What Are the Causes of Ongoing Nausea?

There are many conditions which may cause ongoing nausea. It is important to see your health care provider in order to obtain a diagnosis for ongoing nausea.

Identification

Nausea is described as the sudden urge to vomit. This is the body's response to stress, anxiety, toxins, and certain viruses or bacteria. Chronic or ongoing nausea is when nausea persists for several weeks or occurs daily.

Fibromyalgia

Between 40 percent and 70 percent of people with fibromyalgia suffer from ongoing nausea. These symptoms can vary from mild to moderate intensity. Some fibromyalgia patients have nausea that occurs daily.

Chemotherapy

People who are receiving chemotherapy treatments often suffer with nausea. This may get better as treatment progresses. However, if you are very sick, speak with your health care provider about medication that can help ease nausea during your course of treatment.

Disequilibrium

Your inner ear helps your body to maintain balance. When this balance is disturbed, it may result in ongoing nausea. Many people who have this condition suffer with nausea while walking or changing positions quickly.

Considerations

If you experience ongoing nausea, consult your health care provider. Once a diagnosis is made, there may be medications that will help ease ongoing nausea.
