Foods That Cause Frequent Urination

Many people experience frequent urination after eating certain foods and have never understood or associated it with what they have eaten. Many foods and food dishes contain food high in vitamin C that can cause a person to use the bathroom more than what he normally would if he had not eaten those foods.

Fruits

Fruits such as lemons, cranberries, melons and watermelon can cause frequent urination. Although cranberry juice is good for the urinary tract, it does increase urine. Watermelon has a lot of juice and although it is tasty, if you eat enough of it, you can experience a need to use the restroom more. Lemons have a high vitamin C level as do oranges.

Vegetables

Although you know that vegetables are good for you, some of the vegetables will cause frequent urination in men and women. Celery, cabbage, eggplant, asparagus and cucumbers are included in this list of foods.

Drinks

Coffee, tea and soda cause a need to use the bathroom more often. Essentially, the more liquid you drink, the more you will need to urinate. Milk can be included in this group, but it would need to be more than one glass at one sitting. Alcohol is a sure way to cause frequent urination. It seems that after a few drinks, the body must urinate and this can continue until all alcohol is out of the system.

Other Foods

Foods that contain high levels of vitamin C have diuretic properties. This can cause frequent needs to urinate. Besides the foods listed above, any food made from an ingredient high in vitamin C will cause frequent urination. These foods may be salads, coleslaw and fruit juices made from squeezing fresh fruits.

Warning

Although these foods and drinks cause frequent urination, you need most of these foods in your diet to stay healthy. Eating small portions of these foods could lower the intensity of how often you must use the restroom.
