A green smoothie is a fruit smoothie blended with greens, such as baby spinach, kale or Swiss chard. The idea is to get the nutritional benefits from the greens without the taste. The flavor of the fruit overpowers the flavor of the greens. Green smoothies can be made by blending any variety of fruit and fruit juice, and then the greens, in a blender or food processor.
