The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Pyramid stresses the importance of including a variety of fruits in your daily diet. Unfortunately, busy lifestyles and poor food choices can lead to not getting the recommended daily amount of fruit. Smoothies--thick and frothy beverages made from fruit and yogurt or ice cream--can be a natural and refreshing way to add servings of fruit and dairy to your diet. The sweet and frosty treats can be enjoyed as a mid-day snack, extra treat or meal replacement. One of the varieties of ways to make a smoothie is with a food processor. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
- 1
Place the frozen strawberries in the food processor.
2Slice the banana into large chunks, and add the chunks to the food processor.
3Place the Greek yogurt in the food processor with the fruit.
4Add the skim milk to the food processor.
5Secure the lid on the food processor.
6Turn on the food processor. Let the food processor mix the smoothie until the fruit is cut up and the ingredients are blended well. This can take 30 to 60 seconds, depending on the food processor.
7Pour the smoothie from the food processor into a large glass.
